reality hits hard

for the first time, i'm seeing for myself the ramifications of just one seemingly minor mistake. it doesn't matter whether it was the responsibility of the trainee or the specialist, the fact remains that my grandpa still has to fight for his life in the ICU for a prolonged period of time. i watched as a tear rolled down from the corner of his eye as he lay immobile, with tubes running through every part of his body. and i literally felt my heart ache.
