Jobs creation

http://www.apple.com/ipad/features/
I found it totally amusing that some people dismiss it as a "big-a** iPod Touch" (x Besides, imagine how hilarious it'd sound if you see someone carrying it around in 2 months' time and you call out, hey nice PAD there! Tsk.

going bananas

Somehow 3 weeks of school felt like 3 months' worth of it. Mind-boggling classes, long weekly dinners after urban econs at night, career talks, discovering random treats at the alumni house... My sleep routine is kinda messed up and I haven't been sticking to my yoga schedule (x I'm tireddddddd. Oh and I signed up for some yoga open event in july. JULY! I can't believe I have already committed to it. But I think it'd be fun. Maybe I should volunteer to lead the warm-up yoga-aerobics routine cos they need 2 people from every class to do it HAHA I can picture how ridiculous i'd look.

I wana sleeeeep. Okay, tomorrow isn't much of a free day anymore.

p.s: Tim finally extracted his wisdom teeth! Been there, done that. So I can identify with the numbed jaw, bloody saliva-soaked gauze, pathetic diet of porridge+ bananas+ mashed potatoes :D

wooooooots!

lovely.

I WATCHED IT I WATCHED IT I WATCHED IT!

Couldn't take the suspense so I, urm, sought alternative means of catching one of the movies I've been dying to watch :D Not too bad, I must say. Won't mind spending another 6 bucks (or 9.50) to relive the experience again.

Saoirse Ronan is prolly the next Dakota Fanning :)

Time for yoga class byeeeeeeeeee!

heterogeneity

I think I finally paid off my slept debt for the week. I wasn't gona complain cos I prolly had the most eventful and fulfilling start to the semester. The people make the biggest difference. So even as I bade goodbye to friends heading back or venturing to other parts of the world and fellow comrades settling down to hectic schedules all over again, I know I'm pumped up, ready to take on anything that comes my way. There is nothing like surrounding yourself with the right kind of energy. (And by that I don't mean just pure positivity and fluff and rainbows and sunshine and whatnot, which sound like some sort of a disequilibrium to me.) I call it the forces of heterogeneity.

they call this world-class education

Talk about screwed-up tutorial class systems. Get penalised for not knowing how to solve a frigging math problem. Get no credit for trying. Get penalised - TWICE OVER - for trying and not solving it. WHAT THE HELL RIGHT?!?!

Beat the system, survive the system, or crumble under the system.

transient

Just heard that a former secondary school classmate of mine took her own life. I'm still very much in shock. I remember that she was brilliant. She was effectively bilingual, and was always asked to be the emcee for school events. She also always spoke her mind. I lost contact with her for several years until recently when she added me on facebook. And then.. now. I don't know why it happened. It's just really saddening.

Rest in peace, friend.

-

I'm too tired and my throat is too sore for me to think properly now.

Just happy to have met up with nic and jes today, at last. Happy to have bumped into heng today after half a year. Happy that tim aced his audition.

Right now I just am not in the state of mind to make any further plans, really. Night.

chilled night

I know it's just the second day of school, but so far all the signs point to a very demanding semester ahead. Micro and Urban econs predictably heaped on loads of pressure right from the beginning. Still, great company never fails to make school life amazing. Just had post-lecture dinner with quan and kaimin- these boys are insanely hilarious as ever!

And keeping my fingers crossed for timmy's audition tmr :)

Oh, chanced upon this:

Yea man.

to kickstart the year

Microeconomics III
Urban Economics
International Economics I
Introduction to Urban Planning
Real Estate Development and Investment Law

It was a pity having to give up Macroeconomics III due to a timetable clash, and then Micro totally bankrupted me, but I guess I'm meant to read the latter this sem after all :D I think this is gona be an interesting semester, given that I've 3 mods related to real estate and urban planning- an area that I've never explored before. Then there's bound to be loads of Lagrangian stuff etc in International. And an honours mod to top it off. I'd be lying if I said I ain't a little terrified.

But WHAT THE HELL, IT'S 2010! :D

crash and burn, GEMS!

This week may be the hot hot migraine-inducing CORS bidding season but I ain't gona talk about General Education Modules. I was referring to the Go the Extra Mile for Service movement that has been around for, what, 4 years?

Go the extra mile? Personal experiences have proved that many still haven't taken the baby steps.

For instance, there is one hair salon that I swear I'd NEVER EVER visit ever again in my life. One bitten, twice shy. "A Cut Above The Rest" - YEA RIGHT. The hairstylist who was allocated to me actually left me freezing in my chair with my hair dripping wet for 15 minutes while he went to take a puff, kept disappearing randomly for intervals of 10-15 minutes without saying a word, and ended up giving me an absolutely disastrous trim. And he supposedly has 25 years of experience in the industry. HAH. Both his testimonial and the salon label can s*ck it!

Also, just a couple of hours ago, at a western food stall, I gave my order to the stall assistant and pointed out to her where I was sitting. She took a glance, nodded and shooed me off. But 30 minutes later, even the people who arrived later got their orders. When tim made a query about it, the woman snapped and kicked up a fuss, claiming that she "didn't hear anything". A simple, quick apology would have made things a lot easier, wouldn't it?

I don't think I'm nit-picking. I did sales before and I know that service level matters just as much as the product itself. Yawn. Enough of complaining. Badminton sessions thrice this week are wearing me out. And more bidding tmr. SIGH.

salmon, like the fish

I read the book once several years ago, and fell in love with it. I remember during the first literature class in jc, the teacher asked everyone to name their favourite book we had read recently, and I brought up this one. Now, having found out that the novel-adapted film is gona be released, I finished the book over new year's day. Beautiful story, intriguing characters, profound messages. Freaked me out a great deal, and also made me sob my eyes out again, so much so that I felt as if my insides collapsed. At one point, it made me fear death suddenly. Death of anyone. Death of anything.

I know I'd be SOOO pissed off if the movie disappoints (x

2010 - wow!

Like I told zing the other day, 2009 was not only eventful but also marked by loads of fatigue- emotionally, physically, mentally, academically, financially, economically! My only resolution (somehow those whom I told all laughed) is that 2010 will be a better year than 2009 :D

Not bad for a start: chat with ikh about life and people, counting down with way more than 3 people, staying out with loved ones.

Gotta grab some more sleep :)
