i'm honestly freaking out. this time, it isn't just about meeting (and bonding, supposedly) with
new people, but also
different people. for once it isn't just gona be the usual nanyang hwachong raffles crowd. last night qin's msg about being so grateful for our meangirls bunch made me wonder - a little apprehensively - if it's possible to foster such friendships all over again. soaking in the fun-loving atmosphere of my boy's wing social night yest, i almost convinced myself, there and then, that such camaraderie can be built up and sustained. but then again, i guess in army it's different in the sense that these guys get tekan-ed (real badly) together daily and basically constitute the lives of one another, instead of simply attending lectures and tutorials for a couple of hours a day, or attending 4-day camps. well, less than 24hrs away from my first varsity camp, i'm just hoping for the best.
hmm having said that, i did have a blast last nite anyway (: so glad to meet friends like charmaine jade huizhong rayner etc whom i havent seen in ages. i guess great company made up for the lacklustre programme!

and it's time to get back to work! haha all im feeling now is a queer mix of excitement and trepidation. i miss my little kiddos sooo much but im dreading the early morning alarm and the few wailing brats. of cos there's also the new teacher who's due to replace me real soon. i've seen her once or twice when she came for interviews but i don't know if she's the kind who'll be willing to take instructions and advice from someone half her age, namely yours truly. shrug. my mind's full of
what-ifs -- what if she's too quiet? (my colleagues and i agree she looks like it, but well looks can always be deceiving) what if i end up doing all the work for her? what if she's so overwhelmed that she quits the very next day? haha the latter's pretty extreme but anything's possible. in fact, such appalling incidents have happened before. a fellow newbie literally walked out on the job after only one and a half weeks. hmm, we'll see how it goes then!

I made up my mind to do econs at nus fass. of course, people don't lift an eyebrow and go "wow" as compared to, say, if I claim I'm reading a double degree course in business and law. I admit I did think about the fact that I could have chosen that path, regardless of my chances of obtaining it. Or I could have accepted smu and be all hyped up to engage in its seminar classes and widely publicised 'hip' culture.
But something tells me I should head for where I'll know I belong, where a conducive school environment means more than just state-of-the-art campus buildings, where I can once again embrace sports culture which I so loved and yet kinda neglected the past 2 years. Also, in the initial stages of deliberation I overlooked the rigours of DDPs in spite of the impressive edge that I know they can give me. There's such a thin line between challenging myself and recognising my limits.
Well, I took Mr Wong's advice to exploit nus' abundant resources and reputation. And I'll still have opportunities to pursue double majors if I decide I can cope after I've sufficient experience of uni life.
Today I'm once again reminded that I can create something big out of the little I have in my hands.
Looks like I gotta work extra hard in other areas to gain that edge.

i've had almost 7 months of holiday (away from school i mean) and I'M STILL LOVING IT (: it has especially been a blast celebrating the birthdays of some of my closest girlies!
let's see,
yuqin's "cake" was probably the most unique of all. cherl and i totally racked our brains before we chose to get 19 gold-coin bakguas stacked together instead. the original plan was to stick a candle on the top bakgua but it turned out too hard to be barely pierced through! ohyes everyone should go try the TOGI restaurant at chinatown- absolutely irresistable mouth-watering korean crusine priced reasonably, coupled with great service. my boy couldnt wait to patronise the place again after i brought him there once! anyway, i think i was quite a nuisance walking in and out of the restaurants countless times begging the owner to sing the birthday song in korean haha. but cherl and i ended up learning it (in possibly broken korean) and singing it ourselves (: thankfully qin loved it nonetheless!
anyone who was at fish&co glasshouse on 30 may evening would have probably witnessed the most classic scene ever :D seated at the table nearest to the little stage, my bunch of sec4 darls couldnt be more thrilled to see the band performers, waitresses and waiters make
leexinyi stand on her chair to receive their birthday wishes. i wonder when on earth she's gona upload the photo of herself wearing a comical clown hat, holding a sparkler and looking thoroughly embarrassed while everyone in the house applauded the effort (: my dear girl's in switzerland now by the way. lucky poops! bring a piece of Alps back for me!
cherl got pretty quadruplets and twins for her birthday! 4 red daisies and 2 terrapins to be exact, not babies. the cat high band performance at botanics was lacklustre but good company was all we needed (: and somehow the little babies there on that sunday evening were simply adorable! well we made cherl walk quite abit but hey, that was payback for MY birthday hike :p after that we checked out qin's workplace, tasted some great wine and tested her knowledge of the products. that woman knows her stuff!
