Somewhere in the rat race, I realised I've overlooked many things along the way. Why waste time and energy being angry at insignificant people (or rather, person), when I can channel them towards helping and caring for the closest ones around me?
Been watching A LOT of ellen. hahahahah taylor swift may not be the best singer around but she sure is funny and has tonnes of personality! Love her laughter/chuckle :)
While the papers were being collected, I was strategising in my head what I should do with my S/U-able mods, if I get a C and below for econometrics. Alternatively, based on previous experience if I manage a B- and above, I'd need straight As for the others to maintain a reasonable CAP.
Not a good sign (x
But 3 papers down, and I'm still relatively happy because I know I didn't waste my semester away doing some shit module that I have zero interest in (like political science during freshman year). I'm not likely to find my way back to dean's list but I definitely didn't regret anything. Many often frown when they hear about the supposedly odd combinations I choose. Or say things like, "why you go and take such stupid/weird/boring modules?!" I have two words for these myopic people: F*ck you.
Excuse the outburst. I'm just suddenly reminded of annoying people who seem to only have unkind things to say. People who criticise things about you that don't fit into the mould of what they think are ideal. People who are not conscientious. People who are too lazy to do the bare minimum of what they should. People who make use of you all the time and are too thick-skinned to ever realise it. The worst part is, they call themselves your "friends".
Now, if you were me, what would you do about people like that?!
On a more positive note, I found this while scrolling through my photo library :)
Ohyes, this is a little late but thanks for all the well-wishes for the exams heh I was pleasantly surprised! Very very grateful :)
Done with SSA paper. Was feeling rather good about it until I realised I kinda went a bit off-tangent talking about how Singapore was still considered the "porcupine" of the region by the end of 1970s, which was not really accurate cos we've already embarked on regionalisation. I actually wrote "there was little integration to speak of"- darn! Hopefully the rest of the argument won't falter too badly =/Sigh.
Heading off for some econometrics soon. But some yoga first may help me forget things I should!
Most impressive song by The Script thus far, in my opinion. Didn't really like any of the new releases this year. The media labelled them 'the next Coldplay' haha. But they don't sound as good live though. (Except maybe the cute Irish accent!) The way Danny the lead moves when he sings is rather hilarious (x
If this week isn't the hell of hell, I don't know what it is.
Had cultural studies project meeting on monday night in school till 11.05pm, and 3 of us in the group missed our last bus home, and we were frantically searching for alternative routes. Rushed home to finish up the last econometrics assignment due the next afternoon.
Barely slept, and got rudely woken up by a bad diarrhoea at 6am, which lasted through, on and off, the next 2 days. Still headed to school for the review lectures, praying silently the whole time I wouldn't need to run for the bathroom 6 times a day like I did on the first day. Felt slightly ashamed that even as a senior I had no idea that fees for consultation and standard drugs at the University Health Centre are waived so I didn't have to pay a cent.
Discovered several major/minor glitches in env proj report and data analyses- more panic, more editing, more discussion. Just had a 6-hour mass editing marathon on MSN with ziying, quan and liwei. Everyone was getting cranky towards the end. Woke up and checked through dataset for the last time, only to discover another minor mistake with some units. Ironed things out with liwei's help (poor thing, he barely slept 4 hours i think) cos i'm so bad/slow with statistical regression. Currently hoping fervently that all that needs to be done are done.
Sigh.
Revision for exams has evidently taken a backseat. But I guess that's inevitable. Heard from yaohui that some dude had a seizure during macro make-up lecture. Ziying brought it up again online yesterday too. She was spot-on when she said, that put things into perspective cos what's the point of studying so hard if anyone dies like that. Tsk. I guess we've gotta take a step back every now and then.
I got enlightened on several issues as well. Really grateful for the ones who really care, the ones who are in this with me every step of the way, the ones who put collective needs above their own.
I really need to detach myself from my laptop for a while.
Who can forget this girl who got to take randy's seat? Besides, I always loved kelly's vocals, ever since I watched her rendition of Natural Woman on Idol eons ago. Power ballad here. Definitely sufficient a reason for us to forgive her current less-than-perfect figure, no? Anyway, I'm sure she'd have sounded just as awesome, if not more, even without the back-ups and 5-piece band.
Traumatic/ depressing start to the day. I was almost half an hour late for cultural studies lecture due to a really bad traffic jam near clementi area. At first I was baffled because usually the peak-period traffic would have ceased by 9ish. But later I realised there was a fatal accident in the middle of 3 lanes. Appeared to be some pedestrian who was knocked down by a pickup truck. Ahh. Ever since I got my license I've come to realise how vulnerable people are on the road. Having met several near-accidents myself, hearing horror stories (e.g chinpang sent some guy flying off his bike) and encountering such bloody accidents do freak me out a lot.
Awfully busy final two weeks of school and I'm attempting all means of keeping myself sane. YES WE CAN, as obama would say. Prolly should start the habit of practising yoga every morning. If I can actually wake up early, that is. I'm beginning to discover the theraputic effects of deep breathing and meditating haha. On a sidenote, definitely looking forward to fave slave's and lindis' 21st birthdays :) Alright time to get back to work!
