civilised indeed
anyone wants to take GEK1052 Food Security and Safety with me? :D haha not a popular module i know, as compared to, say, Dynamics of Interpersonal Effectiveness. i was convinced it sounds so corny that no one would wana read it but apparently i was wrong. places are almost fully filled i think, and it's only been 3hrs since round2A of bidding started!as the bids rollin, all freshies will be scrambling for bits and pieces of useful information that can aid our attempts, in one way or another, to secure our preferred modules. and to do that, we ask questions. many, many questions. i'm sure the admin is more than ready for pressing situations like these. well, i'm fine with admin personnel not being able to answer all questions satisfactorily. after all, with complex systems come complex queries and therefore complex solutions. what pisses me off (and gets me so fuming mad that i wana blabber vulgarities down the phoneline) is HOW these "helpful admin officers" attend to one's queries. an admin officer from a certain faculty (not my home fac, thank God) isn't quite the friendliest person anyone would wish to approach with questions, as seen in the following conversation.
me: hi i would like to ask a few questions with regards to a GE module offered by...
her: who are you!
me: oh i'm a freshman...
her: from where?!
me: urm fass. yea, may i know..
her: what module ah?
me: (rattles off the title)
her: i don't know i don't know! it's.. not under me
me: oh, so should i call up xxx department instead?
her: i don't know, i don't know!
me: okayy sorry i'll check again..
her: (slams down the phone)
what ever happened to basic MANNERS in this university ranked No.18 in the world?
fortunately, the next call i made was picked up by some guy who helped a lot by simply being very polite. well, food for thought.
