in retrospect
i've been teaching my kid for more than 4 months and very soon, with the advent of his PSLE, i'd call it a day. strangely i think despite his idiosyncrasies i'd actually miss him. and i figured the feeling is mutual (haha!) because the other day when i told him 30 sept would be my last day he started whining and saying he'd get his principal to let me "teach at (his) school". tsk. that's child-talk for you.sometimes i wish i brought along a voice recorder - a good one, no doubt - to all my tuition lessons because this kid really amuses me big time. (if only he doesn't annoy me just as much, if not more. if only.) then i can keep a collection of his most nonsensical, out-of-this-world remarks. for instance, yesterday he started off with:
"teacher, you know avler lavi [avril lavigne]? i think she damn sexy leh!"
then, after writing barely half a sentence,
"teacher, wah that day me and my friends watch the tokyo deef [tokyo drift] mtv, the girls damn sexy! they dance ah then the butt will shake up and down one." (erupts into giggles.)
and halfway through a math equation,
"teacher, i msn my girlfriend, he [she] want to break up, so i say you dare ah i tell everyone your secret."
i raised my eyebrows.
"i go tell everyone he [she] kiss me then touch my butt!"
seriously, more should be done to teach these young boys with raging hormones about the birds and bees.
hmm on second thought, i believe it's his nonsense that i'd miss most :D
