sympathy

i hate sympathetic looks. they make me feel small. they make me feel worse. i remember in my secondary school days, on one occasion, i vented my frustrations in my notebook, with the words "I DONT NEED YOUR SYMPATHY" sprawled over the entire page. that sentiment still holds today. you can say im ungrateful, unappreciative, whatever. but if you think carefully about the difference between "sympathy" and "empathy", you'd realise that sympathy is so much more shallow. besides, who says sympathy serves any purpose? it doesn't motivate me in any way.

i truly wish history will not repeat itself.
